Destined for Doon A Doon Novel Carey Corp Lorie Langdon Books
This was a fantastic sequel to an even more fantastic series! I loved this novel just as much as I loved Doon, and I can't wait to see what happens next (especially after such a cliffhanger ending). Destined for Doon picks up several months after Doon ended. Kenna is in Chicago, making her dreams come true, but also miserable because of leaving not only her true love, but also her best friend, behind in Doon. Kenna's life is thrown topsy-turvy when Duncan comes back into her life quite suddenly, and she is forced to return to Doon to help Vee save the kingdom.I loved every single aspect of this book, however the one thing that greatly stood out to me was the little details that Carey and Lorie incorporated into the story. The funny comments, the descriptions, the references! Seriously, it is all so amazing and adds such a great element to the story. These things not only make the story come alive, but make the story and the characters that much more relatable. This book is extremely well written, and the book moves at a fast pace. You simply will never want to put this book down! I was never once bored, and I was swept away by the magic of Doon once again.
Kenna and Vee's friendship is something that is to be admired, and every girl should have a friendship like this. While this book focuses a bit more on Kenna, we still have alternating POV's with Vee. This definitely gives a more complete feeling to the story, and helps move the book along. We see all sides to the story, and the ups-and-downs that come with being queen of a land that doesn't exactly want you as their queen. Both Vee and Kenna are extremely relatable, and personally I am a mix of both of the girls. Kenna never ceases to crack me up with her attitude and antics, and I definitely will be using some of her lines.
I will warn you, the ending of this book will leave you begging for more. It is a HUGE cliffhanger, and all I know is that everything better be alright in the land of Doon and with our favorite characters! I definitely can't wait to read the next book in this series, as this is easily one of my favorites. I highly recommend checking out this novel if you were a fan of the first book in the series. You won't be disappointed! Happy reading :)

Destined for Doon A Doon Novel Carey Corp Lorie Langdon Books Reviews
The second book in the DOON series, there is much to like. Boys in skirts, a wicked witch plotting evil, and daring damsels to the rescue. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I did tire of the main characters not spending the five minutes it would take to talk to each other to clear up the misunderstandings keeping them apart, but it wasn't too distracting. A good follow-up to the first book and I intend to keep reading the series.
I'm not a romance reader, but Doon has enough fantasy in it for me to enjoy the story and the romance. (I have a secret crush on Duncan, but don't tell anyone). Destined for Doon is the second book in what I assume will at least be a trilogy. The modern day adaptation of Brigadoon is fun. Who doesn't like Scotsmen in kilts and Celtic mythology? And Mackenna, what a great spunky character. Also love all the Broadway musical references. )
On the downside, I absolutely hate Zombie anything, so I was a bit worried about the zombie aspect of the novel (zombies, really? what's the attraction?). But the authors did a great job of weaving in the zombieness in a clever way and kept the flesh eating dead scenes to an absolute minimum. I look forward to seeing what they come up with next.
The writing seems much improved from their first novel. The character nuances that bugged and annoyed me in Doon were carried over into Destined for Doon. But, the changes the characters went through didn't make them feel like strangers either, which should be applauded.
Overall 3 1/2 stars
In this volume Veronica is queen of Doon and trying to gain the respect of her subjects. Not without stumbling blocks, one being Jamie.
Kenna is living her dream in Chicago, but not entirely happy. Then Duncan arrives telling her Veronica needs her in Doon.
The two friends are once again Destined to save Doon. This time from the limbus, or zombie fungus. Very interesting plot twists along the way.
Fun read!
I enjoyed this book. It is the continuation of a story I am interested in, set in a beautiful world with lots of adventure. The characters are interesting and unique. I loved that Kenna is always singing and mentioning musicals; it brings her to life in that even her thought life is affected bu the things she loves. Also, Vee and Kenna’s friendship is beautiful. The constantly comment on how they “share each other’s brain” which shows the depth of their friendship. I also enjoyed the plotline, which is the main thing I consider when liking a book. It held my attention with a mix of romance and crisis.
Destined for Doon didn’t pull from me the same emotions as the first, however. Part the reason for this is the fact that much of the turmoil between the couples are misunderstandings which could be rectified if they would just talk and actually listen to each other. Of course, the existence of misunderstandings is probably a pretty accurate portrayal of any relationship.
The curse was interesting. The authors never really explained how the witch made it since Vee and Kenna stripped her of her powers in the first book. How then could she have revived the curse, and where exactly is she? I assume it will be explained in the third book in the series, especially since this book is a cliffhanger as well.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to the sequel as an answer to my questions and a hopefully epic conclusion to the series.
